8 Performance Pads

Eight sounds ready to trigger live — Kick, Snare, Hi-Hat, Clap, Bass, Riser, Chop and Horn. Use the number row or the top keyboard row, no mouse needed. Toggle keyboard mode off to type normally.

YouTube Downloader

Paste any YouTube URL, hit Download. TiltDJ fetches the audio as MP3 using yt-dlp (auto-installed on first use), runs waveform analysis, and drops the track straight into your mixer — no browser, no manual steps.

Multi-Track Mixer

Load as many audio files as you want and play them all at the same time. Each track gets its own volume fader, a live waveform strip, a green checkmark once analysis is done, and a play/stop button — full desk-side mixing without a DAW.

Waveform Visualizer

See your import as a waveform with a live moving playhead. Tap anywhere on the waveform to set a hot cue marker in that colour and jump back to it instantly — great for verse/chorus navigation without scrubbing.

16-Step Sequencer

An 8-row × 16-column grid — one row per pad sound. Toggle steps on/off to build a one-bar pattern, set your BPM, hit Play and the loop fires in sync with whatever tracks are running in the mixer.

How to use

Four sections — pick your starting point.

01 — Getting started

First launch

  • Open TiltDJ from the Applications folder
  • Right-click → Open on first launch to bypass Gatekeeper
  • Use pads 1–8 or Q–I to trigger sounds immediately
  • Adjust FX knobs to shape the sound in real-time
  • Hit Play to start the transport and step sequencer
02 — Importing audio

Add tracks to the mixer

  • Click ADD AUDIO and pick MP3, WAV, AIFF or M4A
  • Waveform analysis runs automatically on import
  • Press play on any track to add it to the live mix
  • Multiple tracks can play together — use the individual faders
  • Files are saved to ~/Documents/TiltDJ Downloads
03 — YouTube downloader

Get audio from YouTube

  • Paste any YouTube URL into the downloader field
  • Click DOWNLOAD and watch the progress bar
  • The MP3 is saved and added to your track list automatically
  • Waveform analysis starts immediately after download
  • Requires an internet connection (yt-dlp auto-installed)
04 — Using FX

Shape sound with effects

  • Drag FX knobs or use the sliders beneath each one
  • Reverb — add space and depth
  • Delay — create echo and rhythmic repeats
  • Filter — cut highs for that underwater feel
  • Distortion — add grit and saturation
  • Pitch — shift semitones up or down
  • Speed — slow down or double-time playback

YouTube Downloader Setup

Enable YouTube downloads

TiltDJ downloads audio from YouTube using yt-dlp — a free open-source tool. Run the one-line command below in Terminal and it installs everything automatically.

STEP 01
Open Terminal
Press ⌘ Space → type Terminal → Enter
STEP 02
Paste & Run
Copy the command below, paste into Terminal and press Enter
STEP 03
Restart TiltDJ
Once done, quit and reopen TiltDJ. YouTube downloads will work immediately.
